The 2007 Contenders finals was a scenario of something older, Shane Conneely, versus something newer, Nikolai Nahorniak. After ten years of frustration in Contenders competition, Shane finally came away with the championship title with a well earned victory over young Nahorniak. In spite of a #1 seed it was a tough road for Shane as right from the opening round it was one hard fought match after another. He played Brian Connolly in the first round and the scores were 15, 14. Then, he beat Ray Burzic in the quarterfinals, (16) 19, 3 and Ivan Ruiz in the semis 17, 19. Shane defeated Nikolai 18, 11 in the finals.

In addition to Burzic and Ruiz, Kevin Jarvis had a notable showing and advanced to the semi-finals. Victor Perez upset the #2 seed, Kevin Greco in the first round 20, 14 before bowing to Jarvis in the semis (16),12,7. Greco ended up winning the A division with three consecutive tiebreakers. A promising junior player representing the Lattof  YMCA, Riley Kloss, was the B division winner over Mike Carpenter and Chris Kristufec, pushed to the limit by Bert Connolly, won the C division 14,(16),8.
