As recently as the 2004 3-wall nationals, and at the age of 47, David Dohman was able to reach the Open Doubles finals, the same year that he won the 45+ Singles. From 1977 to 1998 David won the 3-wall Open Doubles tournament 9 times with 2 different partners, this combined with a significant collection of USHA, YMCA and IHA and collegiate 4-wall singles and doubles championships.
Since 1995 he has amassed a combination of 16 national 3-wall singles or doubles championships in the 35+ to 50+ brackets, five times winning both singles and doubles in the same year and most recently this years 50+ singles title, all in all a tremendous record achieved by a tremendous player.
David has now achieved Hall of Fame recognition at Lake Forest College, the Illinois Handball Association and the USHA, honor well deserved for a great player and a truly humble individual. |
